Los números ordinales son aquellos que usamos, por ejemplo, para dar una fecha cuando es el día 1 de cada mes (o incluso otro día; normalmente, entre el día 2 y hasta el 10), poner las cosas en secuencia, decir el piso donde vives en un edificio y ediciones de festivales, libros, congresos, entre otras cosas.

Según la Real Academia Española, para expresar abreviadamente los números ordinales, se utilizan dos sistemas: la numeración romana (I, II, III, IV, V) y la numeración arábiga seguida de letra volada (la que ya te he mostrado).
